depth approx 14-15 (17-18, 19-20) cm/5½-6 (6¾-7, 7½-8) ins

Choose a size that will stretch to fit your head.
It is intended to be worn with approx 2-5cm/¾-2ins negative ease.

Yarn

DK/8 ply yarn
Colour 1 (C1): approx 50 (70, 90) metres/55 (76, 98) yards
Colour 2 (C2): approx 25 (40, 50) metres/27 (44, 55) yards
Add approx 35 metres/38 yards for pompom.

Fingering/4 ply yarn
Colour 1 (C1): approx 75 (110, 130) metres/82 (120, 142) yards
Colour 2 (C2): approx 35 (50, 60) metres/38 (55, 66) yards
Add approx 40 metres/44 yards for pompom.

Needles and notions

If making in DK/8 ply

  • one each 3.25mm/US 3 and 4mm/US 6 circular needles both 40cm/16ins long

  • set of 4mm double-pointed needles for crown

  • stitch markers and yarn needle

  • pompom maker (optional)

If making in Fingering/4 ply

  • one each 2.75mm/US 2 and 3.25mm/US 3 circular needles both 40cm/16ins long

  • set of 3.25mm double-pointed needles for crown

  • stitch markers and yarn needle

  • pompom maker (optional)

Tension

If making in DK/8 ply
The tension required is 22 sts and 30 rows to 10cm/4ins over stocking st, worked in rounds on 4mm needles.

If making in Fingering/4 ply
The tension required is 28 sts and 36 rows to 10cm/4ins over stocking st, worked in rounds on 3.25mm needles.
